Asymptotic Geometry of Non-mixing Sequences

چکیده

The exact order of mixing for zero-dimensional algebraic dynamical systems is not entirely understood. Here non-Archimedean norms in function fields of positive characteristic are used to exhibit an asymptotic shape in non-mixing sequences for algebraic Z-actions. This gives a relationship between the order of mixing and the convex hull of the defining polynomial. Using these methods, we show that an algebraic dynamical system for which any shape of cardinality three is mixing is mixing of order three, and for any k ≥ 1 exhibit examples that are k-fold mixing but not (k + 1)-fold mixing.

Asymptotic Behaviors of the Lorenz Curve for Left Truncated and Dependent Data

The purpose of this paper is to provide some asymptotic results for nonparametric estimator of the Lorenz curve and Lorenz process for the case in which data are assumed to be strong mixing subject to random left truncation. First, we show that nonparametric estimator of the Lorenz curve is uniformly strongly consistent for the associated Lorenz curve. Also, a strong Gaussian approximation for ...

ON QUASILINEAR ELLIPTIC SYSTEMS INVOLVING MULTIPLE CRITICAL EXPONENTS

In this paper, we consider the existence of a non-trivial weaksolution to a quasilinear elliptic system involving critical Hardyexponents. The main issue of the paper is to understand thebehavior of these Palais-Smale sequences. Indeed, the principaldifficulty here is that there is an asymptotic competition betweenthe energy functional carried by the critical nonlinearities. Thenby the variatio...

On the Minimax Optimality of Block Thresholded Wavelets Estimators for ?-Mixing Process

We propose a wavelet based regression function estimator for the estimation of the regression function for a sequence of ?-missing random variables with a common one-dimensional probability density function. Some asymptotic properties of the proposed estimator based on block thresholding are investigated. It is found that the estimators achieve optimal minimax convergence rates over large class...

Projective Metrics and Mixing Properties on Towers

We study the decay of correlations for towers. Using Birkhoff’s projective metrics, we obtain a rate of mixing of the form: cn(f, g) ≤ Ctα(n)‖f‖ ‖g‖1 where α(n) goes to zero in a way related to the asymptotic mass of upper floors, ‖f‖ is some Lipschitz norm and ‖g‖1 is some L1 norm. The fact that the dependence on g is given by an L1 norm is useful to study asymptotic laws of successive entranc...

The Asymptotic Scaling Behavior of Mixing Induced by a Random Velocity Field

The asymptotic scaling behavior of the mixing region induced by a random velocity field is determined by applying Corrsin’s hypothesis in both the Eulerian and Lagrangian pictures. Both pictures lead to the same results for the asymptotic scaling exponent of the mixing region. Both longitudinal and transverse diffusion are asymptotically non-Fickian (Fickian) when the correlation function of th...
